I went to the doctor yesterday for my 38 week appointment. And the doctor said I am 80% effaced…which means our little Asa could be here ANY DAY!

I was giddy when we left the doctor’s office but very nervous, too. This weekend is the annual Puppet Festival that Mama hosts (and all the rest of my bffs and family) NOT TO MENTION, Daddy is going to Jamaica with Tres Dias and will be gone for SIX DAYS. He will just hate it if he’s not here. (That’s not even a strong enough sentence to say how upset he will be.)

Anyway, I’m feeling good. I mean, I’m tired. My joints hurt. My hands and feet are swollen. And I’m huge. Here’s a few pictures of my tummy the last few weeks…

35 weeks…

36 weeks…

37 weeks…

38 weeks…

So, like I said, ANY DAY NOW!

One of my good friends (who I’ve known since Middle School–and we reconnected again after we moved to Atlanta) has two kids around Lydia’s age. Her oldest is 4 (aka “Tumbleweed”) and invited Lydia to come to her ballet class’ Bring A Friend Day.

We went today and Lydia LOVED it. I was a little nervous because Lydia is so shy and typically timid in these kinds of situations. But she did SO good. Here are a few pictures—a little blurry but still cute. Here she is running around before class.

And one of her friend, Tumbleweed. (Yes, that’s my big pregnant self in the background…)

Now class has begun. Lydia was immediately obedient and sat right down. She got a little concerned until I led her to sit by Tumbleweed. Then she was absolutely fine.

Here they are doing a “butterfly” and moving their “wings” up and down.

All the moms had to leave the room at this point. But we watched it all on a video monitor. Lydia participated the whole time and was perfect! Here she is when she first got out of class. Very excited!

Lydia and Tumbleweed after class. Pretty ballerinas!!

Lydia’s cousins are in town from Mexico. We only get to see them about once a year, so this is a fun time for Lydia to get to know her family. Judah is 4, Bryar is 2 (just 3 months younger than Lydia) and Mikaela is almost 7 months old. So, Lydia is getting a big dose of BIG family! It’s so fun!

This week, we had a little “pool party” for them. But since Fay is blowing in Florida, we had cool and windy weather. So no pool!

We did make some cute summer visors and I don’t think they took them off all day.

Then we tried to make some summertime cupcakes. I actually MADE the frosting because I wanted it blue like water. And the little bears are supposed to have bathing suits on. Do they look like they’re swimming? Oops. I just noticed on of them is broken off!

The kids loved frosting and making their bears swim in the frosting! And dipping their spoons in the frosting…I think they ate more than they spread.

Oh yeah, they liked to eat them, too! There wasn’t a clean face in the house.

Baby Mikaela didn’t get a cupcake, but Lydia looooved playing with her. I think Lydia pulled out every “baby” toy and book for Mikaela to play with. I think she’s going to be a good big sister!

So, how do you think the transition is going?

Lydia’s friend, Evan turned 3 this week and to celebrate he had a cowboy party! All the kids were invited to dress up and ride ponies! Lydia has been excited about it for days. She has talked nonstop and been wearing her cowboygirl hat all day!

But once we got there, she didn’t want to ride the ponies. She wasn’t scared or upset…well, I don’t know. She was scared and didn’t want to get on them. But she loved looking!

After a little cajoling…

We finally got her on and she KINDA liked it.

And here’s one of Mommy & Lyddie saying “YEE-HAW!”

Now one of the birthday cowboy. Isn’t he cute?

I think I look bigger with the pirate. Oh my.

Lydia’s new favorite book is Chicka Chicka Boom Boom! Here she is teaching her Daddy how to pat his legs in time to the story.

She’s a reader, that’s for sure! (Her little purple hair thingie? It’s just like Snow White’s when she cleans, of course.)

It’s getting so hot here, I just can’t bear to be outside for long. But we have a covered porch that isn’t horrible. So, Lydia likes to play out there by herself. Here she is, in her pajamas, laying on a beach towel, washing her Mickey Mouse Clubhouse ball!

Here’s Lydia standing in her “mickey mouse clubhouse”. She was so excited because she and I had “matching outfits” on this day…pink hats, chickie shirts, shorts and crocs.

And showing off a little more for the camera…

And now, some cupcakes shots. We ate cupcakes (thanks to my preggo cravings) and Lydia was in hog heaven.

This is Lydia doing her real-honest-spontaneous-all-by-herself laugh. I wish you could hear it.

and one more for fun…

Like I said, just a little cuteness!

My cousin, David graduated from High School last weekend. At his big party, they had some video games set up. Lydia and Grandmama played bowling on the Wii. She was so serious about it!

And the obligatory Graduation picture. Happy Graduation, David! We love you!

His name is Nokio.

He has brown hair “like Daddy”.

He plays the guitar. It was red but now it’s pink.

He lives on a farm.

He has a pet dog, cat and bird.

He is 2 years old.

For real.

This is one of 20 videos I got of her doing the same thing. Which means she did it at least 45 times more than that! Is she destined to be on the stage?!
